How amazing does our lovely 25 year old female patient look immediately after her procedure? She came to us with significant pain to not only her bunion deformity (Hallux Valgus) but also to the tailors bunion (see marked x marks.) Patient was having difficulty walking and wearing most women's shoes and was limited to sandals and very soft athletic shoes. This patient's deformities were also interfering with excercise due to chronic pain and irritation of the mal-aligned big toe joint and pinky toe and of course the larger joint just behind the pinky toe. Notice the anatomic alignment immediately after procedure without any bandaging. This is truly a testament of great internal soft tissue and boney balancing during surgery to make sure everything is exactly the right tension.
Honestly everyday is a beautiful day to help patients… I'm super lucky being able to help others whether in the operating room or in my office. It doesn't feel like work for me… there is so much gratification in helping others !

Transformation Tuesday: 43 yo female with chronic pain and inability to walk or use fashionable shoes or high heels due to chronic painful bunion at base of big toe. Patient even having difficulty walking or exercising in athletic shoes. If left untreated a bunion can lead to chronic arthritis of the big toe joint requiring a total joint replacement or more invasive repairs. Also long standing bunions can lead to crossing over of the big toe (see before photo above) and big toe going under the second and third toes causing damage and hammertoes to those toes. After 1 hour procedure under local anesthesia with mild sedation patient with now normal big toe joint range of motion and bunion deformity has been surgically corrected with hidden incision. Note the anatomic toe position After correction giving the patient a natural post operative result. We love our patients and help them thru the short postoperative recovery period which requires no casts and minimal down time for most types of deformities. Patients are actually allowed immediate walking after surgery in our heeling boot which looks similar to a snow boarders boot. Of course most procedures covered by insurance. A 45 year old female with chronic painful bunion and painful hammertoe correction which both contributed to not only cosmetic concerns for this patient but also chronic pain and inflammation. She suffered from severe inability to wear most shoes including high heels, running shoes and sandals. Patient failed to have relief from conservative alternatives to surgery. She underwent hidden incision correction of bunion deformity along with repair of rigid hammertoe deformity to third toe.Given the stable design of this surgical repair, patient was allowed to walk immediately after the surgery in special post-operative protective footwear.The surgical repair involved 60 minutes of local anesthetic with mild IV sedation at a state of the art ambulatory surgery center. It required no hospitalization thereby minimizing risks associated with hospital care and hospital born infections.
